Concerning the Jews, Latter-day Saints are commanded to “Seek diligently to turn the hearts of the children to their fathers, and the hearts of the fathers to the children; and again, the hearts of the Jews unto the prophets, and the prophets unto the Jews; lest I come and smite the whole earth with a curse, and all flesh be consumed before me” (Doctrine & Covenants 98:16–17).

The classic parallel structure of this scripture tells us that “the Jews” are “the children” of “the prophets” and that “the prophets” are “the fathers” of “the children.” This means Latter-day Saints are to turn the hearts of Jews to their own prophet-ancestors. As other means have rarely proven to work, that involves using what Nephi calls the “manner of the Jews” or the Jews’ own methodology.
